Wanted journalist with ties to Boko Haram arrested

Ahmed Salkida, a journalist with links to Boko Haram who is currently based in Dubai has been arrested.
He was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja immediately after his flight arrived Punch gathered.

He is believed to be one of the three persons declared wanted for alleged link with the terrorist group. The others are a female lawyer Aisha Waliki and Ahmed Bolori.

Saldika who has been in Dubai  requested for a flight ticket to return back for questioning.

Luck ran for him as his Nigerian passport expired so he had no choice to return back to Nigeria after the Federal Government instructed the Nigeria Immigration not to issue a new passport to him. In place of that, he was given an Emergency Travel Certificate that allows travellers to return to their country of citizenship.

Col Usman speaking with Punch could not confirm his arrest as he said he had no information on such. On the other hands with the insurgents, it was learnt that many of them about 1,500 surrendered ed to Nigerian troops in the North - East. Brig Gen. Rabe Abubakar confirmed the figure.He stated that they were surrendering from due to the military encouraging them to do so.

Speaking to Punch he said:
“We are encouraging those who are still hiding to come out and abandon their unholy struggle. They are undergoing proper security profiling and documentation.”
