'Operation CROCODILE SMILE': 10,000 soldiers set for deployment to Niger Delta

Lt Gen. Tukur Burutai The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur  Buratai, has said the Federal Government will deploy 10,000 troops in the Niger Delta in 2017.

So far, he said the government had deployed 3,000 military personnel as part of its operation, codenamed, ‘Operation Crocodile Smile’ in the regionwhile he was speeaking at the Bayelsa State government house where he paid a courtesy visit Punch gathered.

He stressed that it was needed to train more soldiers in marine combat operations as the states is largely riverine. To also prepare them for external and internal aggression. He stated that the military have also started promoting civil,military relationship in the area.And assured the communities all will be well so they should remain calm. 

In response dickson, the Governor of Bayelsa State appreciated all the military's effort and commiserated with them over the death of some of their soldiers in a recent boat mishap that occured in the state.
