Check who made history at the US open

2009 Argentine champion Juan Martin del Potro just made history at the ongoing US open.
He  became the lowest ranked player in 25 years to reach the US Open quarterfinals due in to his opponent Dominic Thiem quitting their last-16 tie through injury on Monday.

He is ranked 142nd  and  was leading 6-3, 3-2 when the eighth-seeded Austrian retired with a right knee injury having received a medical timeout just moments earlier.

“You never want to win a match like this. I wish Dominic a quick recovery as he has a great future,” said 27-year-old del Potro. Although Del Potro took treament on his right shoulder after dropping a serve to go down 2-1 he was able to break back to a 3- 3and later winning the set.

Top seeds Djokovic, Murray, Tsonga all scaled through in their respective fourth round  games. Djokovic who suffered some set abck due to personal problems has shown great strength in the games and hopes to clinch the cup for a 13th win.
