76 year old man arraigned after his son fled arrest

Ademola Adeniran, a 76 year old man got in a mix of his son's problems.
The said son Lukman Adeniran was supposed to be arrested for an alleged fraud case where he took his company's N3m given to him for his personal use and fled.

Punch learnt that the father was later arrested by the police on Tuesday after failed efforts were made to arrest his son. According to reports Lukman stood as a surety to either produce him when needed or pay the sum of N1.2m when his son was arrested sometime in March,2015.

When the father could not present his son for persecution, he was arrested.His charge read:
“That you, Ademola Adeniran, and one other now at large, on March 23, 2015, at Ikeja, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony, to wit: perversion of justice, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

“That you, Ademola Adeniran, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid magisterial district, did stand as a surety for one Lukman Adeniran in the sum of N1.2m at X-Squad Unit, Lagos State Police Command in respect of a case of obtaining money by false pretences, stealing, and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, prevented him from appearing at the unit for prosecution with intent to defeat and frustrate the course of justice.”

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.
