Woman sent to Kirikiri Prisons over unpaid N100 transport fare

Oduwole Taiwo a 48year old nurse has been remanded in kirikiri prisons over N100. Oduwole who boarded the Lagos State owned commercial bus from Ikorodu to Ojota paid N50 instead of the stipulated fare of N100. The prosecutor told the court that the accused committed the offense on July 10 at Ketu busstop.

According to Punch the accused on getting to her destination offered to pay N50.The conductor refused and before they could pacify the woman, she held the driver's trouser on motion. It was stated that she also held the steering of the bus which caused the driver to loose control and hit a BRT bus in the process. 

An Ogudu magistrate court stated that the of fences contravened Sections 166(1),(d) and 171 of the criminal Law of Lagos State,2011 and further stated that section 166(1) provides a fine of N15,000 or three months imprisonment or both for disorderly behaviour while 171 stipulates three years for assault occasioning harm.

Mrs Oduwole pleaded not guilty to the two charges of disorderly conduct and assault levied against her.Bail was granted by the Magistrate Mrs Sule-Amzat for the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum. The case was adjourned to September 20.
