Revealed! Read How Jonathan's Boys Supported APC

Daily Sun reports have it that some ‘boys’ loyal to former president Goodluck Jonathan worked against the continuation of Seriake Dickson as the governor of Bayelsa state.

Dickson, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer, was leading the polls before it was declared inconclusive following outstanding poll in Southern Ijaw local government, but fresh facts have emerged on how the former Nigerian leader worked against his candidacy in the state.

According to Daily Sun, the PDP man would have lost out to Timipre Sylva, his counterpart in the All progressives Congress (APC) in Ogbia local government area of the state, where Jonathan is from, but for the resilience of the masses.

A PDP chieftain who spoke with Daily Sun in an interview on Sunday, said Dickson’s defeated of Sylva by a slim margin in Ogbia did not go down well with the national leadership of the ruling party in the state.

He said PDP had expected Jonathan to “deliver Ogbia and his entire senatorial district to Dickson and PDP. But Jonathan’s refusal to deliver coupled with the hostility of his wife, boys and friends to Dickson’s re-election have combined to give credence to the story in the country that the former president is not supporting Dickson’s re-election.”

The former first lady, Patience Jonathan, on the contrary allegedly worked secretly with close political associates and foot-soldiers of the former president to truncate Dickson’s re-election.
Some former members of the APC who have now pitched tents with Dickson’s camp have asked his counterpart to emulate former president Jonathan in admitting defeat after the polls.
Although the final result of the election is yet to be announced, the politicians believe Sylva does not stand any chance of usurping their candidate who has already won in about six political parties as against his (Sylva’s) one.
