Classic Acting! Read What Leonado Dicaprio Ate For A Scene in Revenant

There is no task too great - or gag reflex inducing -  for Leonardo DiCaprio when it comes to achieving a sense of reality in his films.
This shows how talented and driven he is.

The 41-year-old method actor says in an interview with Variety that he refused to eat a fake liver (made from jelly) created by his props department.

Instead, Leo insisted on eating a raw slab of bison liver to illicit an authentic reaction for a scene in his upcoming historical epic The Revenant.

Dailymail reports that the movie star's legal team and agents had to clear the stunt before the Titanic star could partake of the potentially disease ridden organ.

Of the experience Leo says: 'The bad part is the membrane around it. It's like a balloon. When you bite into it, it bursts in your mouth.'

And while his director Alejandro González Iñárritu was worried for his actor's health, he now claims he would not have 'gotten to the truth' if he had not eaten the raw slab of liver.

The film is set for release on January 8 in the United States, with a limited release opening on Christmas Day.

Meanwhile, Eddie Redmayne swept the board during last year's awards season, but it's looking like 2016 could be Leonardo's year.

The actor was nominated by the Golden Globes on Thursday for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama for his performance in frontier drama The Revenant.
