CAF names most valuable player


Dream Team captain, Azubuike Okechukwu has been selected as the most valuable player for the just concluded Confederation of African Football (CAF) U-23 football championship in Dakar, Senegal on Saturday, December 12.


Goal.com reports that the decision was arrived at by the Technical Study Group of the football body.

The 18-year-old midfielder who plays for Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor was picked ahead of team mate Etebo Oghenekaro who clinched the top scorer position with five goals.

South Africa won the fair play award for the competition.

Nigeria won the football competition on Saturday, December 12 after defeating Algeria 2 – 1. The team has also qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics for a top two finish in the tournament.
