Akwa United Wins Federations Cup


GOVERNOR Udom Emmanuel has assured the people of Akwa Ibom a continuous harvest of trophies in all spheres of human endeavour as long as the people embrace the vision of his administration.

According to Punch the governor who stated this on Wednesday at the Ibom International Airport shortly on arrival with the victorious state team; Akwa United FC who won the Federation Cup last Sunday in Lagos against Lobi Stars of Makurdi.

The victory was the first for any football club in the former Cross River State in the seventy years old history of the oldest and most glamorous soccer tournament in the country.

Udom who was flanked by his wife, Martha, the state deputy governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, the commissioner for Youth and sports, Mr. Monday Uko and the chairman of Akwa United FC, Mr Nse Ube expressed delight for the honour done the State and noted that the victory of the team in the FA cup was in consonance with his declaration on the 28th of September where he told the whole that Akwa Ibom state was seeing what they could not see.

That vision he said was the new greatness the people of the state have found a hence her desire to chart a new course for the generations yet unborn in the state.

The result, he said was the victory being celebrated all over the country for Akwa Ibom state stressing that the people of the state are people of great minds and resources who are determined to rise above biases, ethnicity, gender, religion and embrace togetherness.
