SAD! The reason Dangote's HRM was killed

Recently the man in charge of bailing out kidnapped expatriates in Dangote Group was kidnapped and later confirmed dead. It cause alot of wailing not only amongst his colleagues and employer but amongst friends and family because of the caliber of the person killed. He was a very humble and good man.

Punch has just gathered that the three men alleged to have kidnapped and killed the human resources manager of the Dangote Industries Limited, Istifanus Bello, have said he was murdered for bringing incomplete ransom.

The suspects – Abdullahi Saliu, Babuga Adamu and Abubakar Gide – told PUNCH Metro that Bello got them angry after bringing N5.6m instead of the N10m agreed for the release of four expatriates earlier kidnapped by their gang.

They said Bello was killed after he had been held for three days because he  allegedly refused to call his employer to pay the balance of N4.4m. PUNCH Metro had reported that Bello had gone to the Ijebu-Igbo area of Ogun State with N5.6m as ransom payment for the four expatriates.

While the foreigners were released, he was abducted and later killed. His corpse was reportedly recovered from a river by the police.

The men, who were Fulani herdsmen, were on Tuesday transferred from the Force headquarters in Abuja to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja, Lagos, pending the conclusion of investigation.
In an exclusive chat with Punch, the suspects, who spoke in Yoruba, said 10 of them carried out the operation.

It was reported that the suspects dumped the victim’s corpse in a river and tied it to a log to prevent the corpse from floating. Another suspect, Adamu, 25, said he had persuaded Alti against killing the victim, adding that the leader rebuked him.

A source told PUNCH Metro that the police and some vigilance group members had first apprehended one of the culprits Saliu and transferred him to the Ogun State Special Anti-Robbery Squad, adding that when they didn’t have a breakthrough, the IGP team was invited. Saliu later  confessed took the police  to where the man’s corpse was. It was already decomposing and Fish had even picked out his eyes.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Donald Awunnah, said investigations were ongoing.

Man defrauds Saudi Dr by impersonating the IG of Police

Ekperebuike Akadonye was arrested for fraud. He was believed to have inpersonated the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris on the internet to scam his unsuspecting victim of $10,000. The victim Hassan Alkahallaf is a Suadi Arabia based doctor.

Punch gathered that the 29year old was apprehended by the Inspector General Special Intelligence Response Team and paraded.  has been arrested by the police for allegedly parading himself as the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, on the Internet.

This is not the first time the victim has been defrauded by Nigerians via internet. The second time was when the doctor was coined to believe he will be helped to recover the first money that was defrauded hence the suspect introduced himself as the IG and promised to helpafter demandng $10,000.

A police source told our correspondent that the doctor contacted the IG through the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Nigeria after realising that he had been duped again.
“The suspect contacted his victims, including Hassan (Alkahallaf), who is attached to the Department of Urology, Security Forces Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, via an email address,, purportedly belonging to IG Ibrahim Idris.

“He claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari, in his fight against corruption, had directed the IG to make refunds to victims who had been defrauded by Nigerians in the past.
“The doctor replied to Akadonye’s emails, believing he was the real IG of the Nigeria Police Force, and he eventually paid him $10,000 in installments to get back his lost funds. He lied to the doctor that he would use the money to hire a lawyer who would represent him since he wasn’t based in Nigeria,” the source said.

After the case was reported through the Saudi Embassy the Nigerian Police swung into action to capture and arrest the suspect. It was learnt that sometime in October, the team trailed Akadonye to Imo State, where he hails from and apprehended him.

The suspect, in his statement, allegedly confessed to the fraud, saying he took to the crime after his shops were demolished by the government.
